My Zone 1 Weekly train ticket pays for seats with the cushions missing, three carriage trains during morning and evening peak hour, ticket inspectors that act and look like they were rejected by the Australian and New Zealand Rugby teams, confused train announcers at Southern Cross station that tell us to board the Sydenham line train that ends up turning into a Dandenong bound train once it reaches Flinders Street Station, deafness caused by cranking my iPod up to full bore to drown out the sound of crying babies in prams/grouchy grannies/people on their mobile phones/the teenage fluoro patrol letting passengers know that their best mate is a sick bitch and we should all pay attention to him.
I really do love Melbourne’s railway system, just don’t get me started about the trams!
